Fancy Dancers
The Fancy Dancers were formed on August 9th 2005, in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. The nucleus of the band is comprised of singer/sonwriter Tom Ryerson (left in pic) and guitarist Stan V. Antone (right in pic). Tom and Stan are augmented by several musicans for gigs and recording sessions.

The debut CD, "I was never your age", was released on Feb 14th 2006, and consists of seven tracks drawn from four different recording sessions.

Tom's voice has been compared to Jarvis Cocker of Pulp, and Rik L. Rik of F-Word. The Fancy Dancers cite Luke Haines, Husker Du, Pulp, the Auteurs, Suede, TV on the Radio, The Stills, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Pilate, The Rapture, The Zincs, Muse, The Cure, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, and Snow Patrol as major influences in thier original music.

Intial feedback to the band's songs has been very good: people have been leaving the live shows wanting more! Fan comments have included, "cool crunchy rock with great vocals", "accessible lyrics, absence of gimmicks and a pounding beat" and "if the Beach Boys had grown up in the 80's, they probably would have been the Fancy Dancers!"

Nelson McCrossan of Sound on Sound in Kitchener, ON, produced the first two songs on the CD, "Surreal (Jennifer's Song)" & "Smalltown". These songs feature Doug Hainer on guitar, Andrew Hainer on bass, and Stephen Wright on the drums.

The next three songs, "Sticky Stuff", "Sex Camper Weekend", and "Nothin' at all" were recorded at the Beehive in Ingersoll, ON. Production duties went to Robert L. Brown. Chris Daminato played the drums, and Stan played the bass parts. Robert Brown also joined in rounding out the sound. Robert was also the producer for the 1995 hit "Slacker Anthem", which was reviewed in Billboard in May 1995.

The track "Fire" has been described as "an absolutely abstract piece of psychedelic punk". It's a very lo-fi number recorded at "The Basement" in Beachville, ON, with Matt Podlesney and Shawn Rawlings producing. Chris Daminato played the drums, and Al Benito played the bass when he wasn't too busy drinking all the band's beer and eating all the pizza! Matt Podlesney also took the photos used in the band's promotion.

The last track on the disc, "Sometimes, but not always", was recorded live on Woodstock in November, and features James Howe on bass and Dave Kaye on the drums. This is the current live band, which are now frequenting the clubs in the Woodstock area.

"Smalltown" and "Fire" have been received with great enthusiasm on the live circuit, and the band believe that "Surreal (Jennifer's Song)" and "Sticky Stuff" have great potential at the radio level.

Fans have compared the Fancy Dancers to Iggy Pop and the Stooges, going as far as saying, "Tom Ryerson takes his lyrical and singing cues from Iggy Pop and Lou Reed."
