Gallery Two
Do you dare venture to Gallery Three? HERE!
One of the opening sequences, Caligula meets his dear old grandfather for the first time in years. On the far right is the sweet and pretty Imperial Taste Tester, who finds out soon enough the perils of her job. What a waste of a great lady!
The Imperial Pleasure Grotto. Yes, Tiberius really does have too much free time on his hands. An early production still.
A drunk soldier is a dead soldier in Tiberius' eyes. Like he's soooo perfect.
A great production still of Tiberius's Rock. Hard to beleive this was an exterior shot. The lighting is very well done.
It's been said that you can win the respect and undying affection of your troops by being a fair and just ruler, or you can do it the "Caligula way" and just buy thier friendship. How many gold pieces each? This is a test question!
Caligula's only too eager to shove something up Proculus's arse, but what pray tell? So many choices, so little time.
The Temple of Isis/Vestal Virgins scene. The Japanese censors don't mind gut wrenching violence, but hey, block that nasty pubic hair!
An awesome view of the Temple of Isis set from the opening at the top of the ceiling. The set was 43 feet across if I have my information right. Drusilla's bedroom ran from one of the doorways of this set. Her bedroom was used for 3 different scenes.
Hmmm.....something just don't look right here. Cool picture though! The woman giving 'birth' is a double. There is a picture of her in the stills gallery of the Imperial Edition of the DVD.
The Roman Jail. Another rare location shoot. This was an abandoned
underground relic that was found in the nick of time for shooting. I have been told is was very dark, damp and cold. That explains the nipple hardies!
All good things must come to an end. Chaerea makes his point.
A fantastic shot of this incredible set, too bad they wern't used more in the film. The sets and costumes in Caligula are really under-rated.
A typical end to a Roman Emperor, don't they ever learn?
The construction of the Stadium set. It has been thought that it replaced the Imperial Grotto/Tiberius Rock set.
