| "You think I'm a lunatic don't you? You don't understand me." Caligula says to Longinus in this scene. At the altar of Jupiter Caligula plans to assist the Priest in the Sacrifice of a bull. But as the mallet comes down, Caligula has other ideas! In the picture above I assume that Sabinus and Caligula have just left the Treasury, and they've brought the big gold penis with them! This door is under a platform in front of the sacrificial altar. |

| From the book by William Howard, pg 176, it reads, "The signal was given. Lifting his mallet high in the air, he brought it down with a sickening crunch, not on the head of the bull, but on the head of the priest. The man crumpled and fell dead on the spot." This scene is shown in the documentary film, but that is the only spot. The next scene in the book is where Caligula becomes the Goddess of Venus, and seems to follow this scene. |
