| In this scene, Caligula becomes the Goddess of Venus, and it is told on page 197 of the William Howard book. "He stood on the pedestal in the Temple of Venus. The statue of the goddess that was usually enshrined there had been removed and stored away; he had taken her place." In the book it is here that Caligula meets Mnester, and they have a great sex session. This was never shot for the movie despite popular belief. Below are two unidentified pictures. Rasputin and Ranjit think this scene is an early part of the rainstorm (Naked Caligula Dance) scene, but I think it's connected to the blackbird scene towards the end of the movie. On the next page is another shot from the same scene. The editing of this movie was such a muddled mess! |
