| Franco & Robert Rossellini |
| Roberto and Renzo Rossellini were brothers who were both involved in film. Roberto was born on May 8th 1906 in Rome, and died on June 3 1977. Renzo was born on Feb 2 1908 in Rome, and died on May 13 1982 in Monte Carlo. Roberto got his start in 1946 with the film "Paisan", featuring a script written by Frederico Fellini. There seems to be a Fellini connection where-ever I go! Roberto's brother, Renzo, composed the music for that film. And so the two brothers worked, one directed, one wrote music. Roberto married to Igrid Bergman in 1950, and they were divorced in 1957. They had twin daughters, Isabella and Isotta Rossellini, born on June 18th 1952. Isabella was a model who later turned to acting. Renzo married, and he and his wife had a son, Franco, born November 7th 1935. Franco died on June 3 1992. Franco and his wife had a son, Renzo Rossellini Jr. Prior to 1972, Roberto wrote the original treatment for Caligula. His nephew, Franco, decided to take the treatment to Gore Vidal. Possibly thru Fellini, the Rossellini's knew of Gore. He had acted in Fellini's 1972 film, "Roma". Gore took the treatment, and with more research, wrote a script for the movie. Franco decided he could be the Producer, and Gore could be the writer. But they needed money to get the film off the ground.. |
