| The Caligula Soundtrack was reviewed on June 5th 2005 at the Score Baby Soundtrack website. Don't bother looking for the vinyl, this cd contains all the vinyl tracks and more. This comprehensive CD even has 4 versions of the theme love song (We are One) including disco remixes that must be heard to be beleived". Mike M, USA This is a cult CD-R created in true D.I.Y. fashion offered for sale by a reputable and honest merchant who is very easy to communicate with. The 28 track disc is filled to capacity with commendable audio transferred (analog to digital) from the long out of print vinyl. Not suprisingly, seven tracks have captured the sound of the 12" LP rotating, three of these tracks also have brief segments where the lower end bottoms out resulting in bass mud (these are mainly the harp intensive cuts). The disc lacks white noise as well as that annoying hum generated by an ungroundable turntable. There are a few pops throughout the recording, but they do not distract from the music. Nine of the later tracks were transferred flawlessly. Most importantly of all, the disc lacks that ear-aching, high twang, flanging distortion that is commonly heard on Real Audio recordings or CD's burnt by Windows Media Player on the XP Operating System. The score to Caligula has miniatures which are apocalyptic, epic, sensual, poppy, avaricious, and even funky (there IS a disco mix). It is a meaningful addition to the collection of any savvy aficionado of Romantic Music. Chris W, USA "Oh yes, I am a true moralist, and stern as any Cato....", (Tiberius in Caligula). And I'm a true fan of Caligula and of the original soundtrack, which is now available on CD! This remarkable collection contains 28 tracks from the motion picture including different versions of the main title, "We are One", and dialogue excerpts from the movie. | NOTE-This CD has been recorded onto Verbatim Digital Vinyl CD-R for highest quality. There are certain limitations when recording from a vinyl source, but I, along with countless Caligula CD buyers, have been very happy with this product. Tom Aruba-May 3 2004 |
